DIY idea: ABCs of Decorating Kids’ Rooms
ABCs are a great way to bring fun and interest to your child’s room. Singing, reading, playing… enjoying letters together and individually can encourage a love of learning. Letters are the building blocks of language and can be creative in building the personality of your baby, toddler and preschooler’s nursery and bedroom.
ABCs come in many forms, big and small. They can be in art, blocks, books, pillows, decals, wall coverings, stencils… in a variety of typefaces, colors and styles. There are countless possibilities. Here are some fun ABC finds and ideas we discovered recently…
Walls are one of the places you can bring the alphabet into a room. The wall of spiraling letters in this Young America nursery are graphic and bold. Simple framed scrabble letters complement and soften the wallpaper from Wall & Deco to create a sophisticated, gender-neutral nursery. This room features pieces from the Young America All Seasons Collection, including a Built To Grow Sleigh Crib and an area rug from NuLoom.
There are plenty of other fun ABCs ideas out there too. Be sure to follow us on Pinterest for design inspiration.
We love the combination of yellow + white + gray. We now have gray paint (Sandpiper and Heron) and wood tone finishes (Slate and Graphite) in our Young America furniture offering. Read about grays here.
… and here’s another room featuring ABC pillows spelling out a child’s name, accented with a natural branch to prop the letters and mini tissue pom-poms to add pops of color and texture…

You can make your own pillows and ABC blocks too… frame favorite pages from ABC books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (a favorite storytime books for wee ones)…
