DIY Paint Swatch Art
Create original artwork for your child’s bedroom with a patchwork of your favorite colors. This one is made with paint store chips. Yes, those free samples from your local paint store arranged on a board in any frameable size, then finished in a frame. Try this project yourself or share it with your school age child.

Supply List:
1. Freebie paint color chip cards in the amount and colors to suit your taste
2. Foam core board, bristol board or something thin and stiff
3. Adhesive to affix the cards to the board: double stick tape, a glue stick, etc.
4. Frame(s) to finish your work. Vintage, modern, simple, ornate, light or dark.
How To:
This project is as easy at it looks and the results are very pleasing. Our photo stylist, Patti Borrelli, visited her local “big box” home store where she was able to pick, choose and collect colors chip cards at will. She selected like red colors then offset them with contrasting greens. There’s no right or wrong for this project, just personal preference.

Time for the layout… try a variety of patterns, shapes and colors together and work slowly. Overlap the cards to cover any print on the chips. Step back and look at your collage like a painter. Pull out the tape or glue stick when you’re happy with your composition. Secure the chips snugly to the board. The finishing touch is to frame your masterpiece and hang it in your child’s bedroom or other living space. Paint swatch art is a wonderful gift idea too.
