Brush your hair, brush your teeth, and PLEASE make your bed. Daily reminders by you-know-who: Mom. You hear those words every single day. Up the stairs, down the hall and over a bowl of cereal. Geez. You roll your eyes and give a sigh. I’m 11 years old and I know how to do it. Truly I can - just not right now.
Well here’s your chance to prove it - a golden opportunity. It’s almost Mother’s Day. If you want to do something she’ll truly appreciate, then here’s a simple idea for you. Show your mother how her gentle prodding, repeated requests, ardent appeals, and predictable pleas have not been in vain. Show her she is being heard by you - even acknowledged. Try it on her special day.
Grab the hair and tooth brushes. Pull yourself together nice and neat. It’s not for you - it’s for your mother. The person who loves and cares enough to remind her daughter each (and every) day. It may sound sappy, but mom will be delighted and full of pride. You’ll make her very happy - and PLEASE make your bed.
Toys, blocks and dirty socks. What can you, young child (tween or teenager alike), do for your mother on her special day? Flowers, crafts and sweet treats are, well, OK. But if you want an even grander idea: Put it All Away. Dad can help and siblings too. Stuff it here, tuck it in there. Socks to the hamper. Hang it high (if you can reach) or line it up low. Try a shelf (yep, that’s what they’re for) or close the books and puzzles in a bottom drawer. Find a place, an out-of-the-way space to Put it All Away.
There’s no “right” way as it turns out - it’s your effort that counts. What will your mother say when you tell her it was you who Put it All Away? What will she do when she sees your good work? She’ll gasp, sweep you off your feet and plant a big juicy kiss on your cheek. What could be better than making your mother happy (ecstatic!) on her very special day.
Here are a few suggestions for this seemingly daunting task…
Even a hint of pink can catch one’s eye. Softly delicate like a Magnolia flower or a cluster of apple blossoms. Lightly fragrant and pure. Pinks make us smile and fill us with the same sense of joy as a new baby or a child’s rosy cheeks. Pink is a color we love - it’s fresh and alive.
Too much pink is like eating too much candy. Too sweet! But don’t hesitate to use pink in a nursery or a girl’s room. Embrace its quiet energy and warmth. It’s the quality of the pinks, not quantity that matters. And it’s a matter of your taste and style. Ask yourself what you want for your home.
Here are a few simple guidelines: 1) Find the pink or pinks you love 2) Decide if pinks will be focal points (furniture) or accents (lamps, artwork, walls, bedding) or a combination. In other words, consider the “amounts” of pink. 3) Mix and match pinks with complementary and contrasting colors (blues, greens, browns) until you find the composition, balance and feeling you like.
Using pinks or any color in a room is like being a painter - try a dab here and a dab there rather than throwing the whole bucket on at one time. Keep it simple. Less is often more in a child’s bedroom - and in your home. Create a soothing space with pinks and make sure you have fun!
The balance of pinks with crisp white furniture make this room cheerful, inviting and bright. A few blues and greens give it some contrast and pop.

All Young America furniture features our exclusive SafeT3™ design — three levels of safeguards for product and environmental safety that have been certified by an independent expert. This means safety for your child.
1. Safety engineered Young America furniture developed its own system of safety features that surpass even the most stringent mandatory or voluntary product safety guidelines.
2. Safety built Safety begins at home. Young America furniture is made in our Robbinsville, North Carolina factory, which gives us an unparalleled level of quality control when it comes to building in safety.
3. Safety certified Our superior level of safety standards meet or exceed those set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and JPMA and ASTM.

We believe a safe choice is a smart choice. Read more
Intertek Checked Cribs
We work with Intertek, the leading independent third party certification lab for safety and design of consumer products. Intertek helps us go beyond testing, inspecting and certifying our baby cribs. We reduce risk by incorporating manufacturing principles and processes that ensure consistency and reliability. Our work with Intertek has earned not only a reputation for value in our products, but an increased level of trust for the Young America furniture brand. So look for the “Intertek Check” when you’re buying a Young America baby crib.
GREENGUARD Certified Cribs
To ensure the safest indoor environments for your children, Young America baby cribs are GREENGUARD Certified. Products that receive the GREENGUARD Children and SchoolsSM certified mark have been independently tested and met the most rigorous chemical emissions standards in the world. To learn more about GREENGUARD Certification visit www.greenguard.org.
Children are more susceptible to pollutants than adults because they are growing and breathe in proportionately more air. This means indoor pollutants, such as certain chemicals, particles and allergens, can cause more severe health effects in children.
